Weddings are soooo special.  I mean really!    <swoon and cue sappy music>

A celebration of two people committing to spend their lives together in sickness and in health.   Lovely ladies in pretty dresses, handsome men in suits, family & friends, good food, free drinks, delicious cake... what could be better than that?!?!?!?

Kim & Kanye who?

I have used a lot of willpower, not to read anything about Kim and Kanye's crazy Parisian wedding...

...that is until this morning.  I ran across this really cute blog from Loverly entitled,

"7 Reasons Kim & Kanye's Wedding Isn't as Cool as Yours"

It is definitely a light fluffy piece but it is cute and worth a read :) I especially liked the part about not having to worry about famous teenagers showing up to your wedding in a batman costume.  That really resonated with me because my husband threatened to show up to our own wedding in a chewbacca costume (we were married on October 30th).

While we are on the subject of Kimye, I couldn't help but love the New York Post after they printed this...

Why do I bring all of this up?  Perspective my friends.  Your wedding is a beautiful time and a celebration of love and commitment.  No matter what the size of your wedding, or the cost of your dress, or the size of your ring or cake, it is a special and time that requires attention, love & respect.

Perspective.

Okay this baker will get back to baking...

A cake inspired by one kick ass dress

It all started with a dress.

Jessica and Peer are New Yorkers, through and through.  They were in love and just wanted to be married. They are totally no fuss, no non-sense New Yorkers :)  They decided they wanted a small wedding in their West Village neighborhood.    In fact, when they got engaged Jessica didn't even go dress shopping.  One of her girlfriends emailed her a picture of a dress... and Jessica loved it and bought it without a second thought.

A working vacation in Arizona

A working vacation in Arizona

Right after I made the cake for the Austin Scarlett launch (literally the day after) I hopped on a plane for the lovely and hot state of Arizona!  It was a welcomed trip after an insanely busy week.  I left with the hopes of laying by the pool, getting some sun on my ridiculously pale body, hanging out with my family, going horseback riding, and you know… just enjoying vacation.
